Breaking News

Benton Utilities wants to notify residents and businesses in our area of a scam going on.  An unknown company is calling, texting & emailing utility customers identifying themselves as your electric company requesting payment or be shut off.  The most recent call we were made aware of was from 501-266-####.

**BOIL ORDER LIFTED**

Benton Utilities recently transitioned to a new third party merchant processor (Invoice Cloud) in order to take electronic payments from our customers.  While the process has not been pain-free or perfect, we are excited about the opportunities Invoice Cloud gives us to better serve our customers.  One of those enhancements includes our ability to now take payment by debit or credit card in our lobby.  Customers have been requesting this feature for a while and we are happy to announce that we have the card reader devices installed in our office and we have just begun utilizing them!  Pleas

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 our ability to take payments by debit or credit card will be unavailable from 8:00 am to approximately 3:00 pm due to a system upgrade.  If you are currently having issues paying on-line, please call 501-776-5923 and select option 3 to pay by phone.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Benton Utilities continues to monitor our distribution system as a result of the work being performed to the bulk electric transmission grid.  Our transmission provider has indicated a possible return-to-service for our Alcoa substation at approximately 19:00 this evening.  If/when this goal is achieved, Benton Utilities will begin switching operations to return our distribution circuits to their normal loads.

Electricity is delivered to our city via Entergy Arkansas’ transmission lines.  Entergy has identified a transmission system pole that is in emergency need of repair.  The proposed repair requires us to redirect power for a part of our City.  Fortunately, this only effects one of our substations, however with the temperatures on the rise in Arkansas, it is not a great situation for us or our customers.

Benton Fire Dept. is currently in the process of doing their bi-annual fire hydrant testing to make sure the hydrants are fully operational in the event of an emergency.  Customers in the area where they are testing may notice what appears to be cloudy water when they are finished. If you do, please let your cold water run approx. 3-4 minutes, and it should clear right up.

Boil order update-The boil order advisory has officially been lifted by the Arkansas Department of Health, for the cities of Benton and Bauxite.  Thank you, all, for your patience!
