Benton Utilities plans to convert many of the housing additions in our city to underground power as well. We feel that minimizing our exposure to elements that cause power failures will greatly reduce the number of outages we experience. BU will be going out for bids soon to purchase a horizontal drilling machine to convert these areas to underground power. It will be a long extended project, but will be worth the effort and wait in the end. BU is committed to providing our customers with the most reliable electricity at the most efficient price possible.

This is to notify you that on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at approx. 1 PM, services will be temporarily interrupted while Benton Utilities Water Distribution Department crew abandons an old line on W. Walnut St. going to the old water plant.

Benton Utilities Share Board is striving to help customers save on their electric bill by giving away fans again this year. As an added bonus this year they are also giving energy efficient light bulbs. Each qualifying customer is eligible to receive one box fan and up to four 60 watt equivalent CFL light bulbs. Even if you do not need another fan, you may apply to receive the energy efficient light bulbs. To qualify, you must have been a contributing member of the Share Program for at least 6 months and have a total yearly household income of $25,000.00 or less.
